Sharing Of HKU MSc (ECom&IComp) Program

Surprisingly requested by the MSc (ECom&IComp) programme office to write something for the 2015 programme brochure, and it is my honour to do so. However, the 100-word criteria are so limiting, so I prepared a short version and a long version and shared them here. Hopefully, my sharing can help the programme to recruit some talented students.

Short version

In searching for a master’s degree for my part-time study, I found that the MSc (ECom&IComp) offered by HKU is the only programme offering what I was looking for. From the wide range of modules, I can select my preferred combination closely related to my day job and future development. In the two years of study, instructors demonstrated not only their knowledge but also the willingness to discuss and take challenges from students. That’s also the best way to make the most benefit from the programme, pick modules that interest you most, think/understand theories from instructors, and discuss/challenge them with your opinions.

Long version

Continuous development is a mandate in this competing world and a master’s degree is a better investment than chasing this or that certification on the market. In searching for a master’s degree for my part-time study, I found that the MSc (ECom&IComp) offered by HKU is the only programme offering what I was looking for and perfectly fits my IT background and the current role in digital marketing. From the wide range of modules, I could select my preferred combination closely related to my day job and future development.

In the two years of study, instructors demonstrated not only their knowledge but also their willingness to discuss related topics during breaks and even out-of-class hours. They have theories on their topics, which all sound and are worth learning. Instructors were also open to discussing and taking challenges to their theories. That’s also the best way to make the most benefit from the programme, pick modules that interest you most, understand theories from instructors and think them through, and discuss/challenge instructors with your opinions. With interactive learning, I found that finishing the programme is not the end of the study but the start of another level of study.
